Pigeon Swamp Ledger, 1780

The Pigeon Swamp Ledger is record of the laws, accounts and memoranda belonging to the Pigeon Swamp. The swamp was drained to maintain and clear the surrounding area for farming. The draining of the Swamp was referred to locally as the Big Ditch. The ledger is the settlement of the tax levied on the proprietors of the Pigeon Swamp. The Pigeon Swamp Ledger is in the oldest existing South Brunswick Document.

The preservation and digitization was funded with a grant from Middlesex County Office of Arts & History.
