Summer Reading

Children's & Tween's Summer Reading 2018

How to Register

Parents and caregivers must register their children either in person at the reference desk or by completing the online form below. All information is kept confidential and for record-keeping purposes only.

How It Works

The goal of the program is to get children reading! Each week, keep track of the amount of time your child reads (or is read to) on the reading log. Each child will receive one Reading Log to use throughout the eight weeks of summer reading. This sheet is found at the Children’s Desk if you signed up online. Each participant will keep track of the time read each day by writing the amount of time read in the corresponding box on the calendar.

Once a week, or as you are able, bring your Reading Log to the Children’s Desk to check-in. At check-in, we will tally your time read, hand out prizes and stamp your log in the box for that day.

Each week will begin on Monday and run through the following Sunday. Children may check in anytime during the week to turn in their Reading Log. However, participants will only receive one prize a week.

The Library will be giving out a number of incentives ranging from stickers to activity books and pencils to reward young readers on a job well done. Additionally, for every 3 stamps collected, you can choose a special bonus prize! For every 20 hours of reading time recorded, you can get a free book!
