The Friends of the Library Concert Series presents The Pettet Sisters on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. in Meeting Room A/B. Bring the whole family; it’s sure to be a good time!

The Pettets will perform a variety of popular vocals in a free, lively concert for music lovers of all ages. Ashley and Kristen have distinguished themselves on Broadway, television, and in movies. They have performed at the White House, can be heard singing in movies including Stepmom, and were featured on the ABC special Sisters in Showbusiness.

Stars, Galaxies & Black Holes

Learn more about the recent detection of a Black Hole. An article on  recently announced “A Black Hole in a distant galaxy has been eating a star for nearly a decade.”

“In a distant galaxy, a staggering 1.8 billion light years from Earth, a black hole is eating a star.  This is a colossal, titanic event; the gravity from the black hole literally rips the star apart and consumes the entrails, generating soul-vaporizing amounts of energy in the process.”

Mike Buttitta, a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador and Endeavor Fellow, New Jersey and NJTEEA/ITEEA State Affiliate Rep, willl give another of his informative talks tonight. Hear the latest cosmological news about what is being discovered in the universe.

And, save the date: July 20, 2019 at 2 p.m. to celebrate the 50th year anniversary of the Moon Landing.

 SB Hackathon open to ALL High School students (even if you are outside of South Brunswick). It’s simple! Think of an idea, make teams and code, win cool prizes. No experience required. Register at

Walk-ins will be welcome; but will have to wait and see if there are any spots left. Walk-in registrations will begin 30 minutes after check-in begins (basically those pre-registered get to check in first).

Makers Day 2019

Join us for this annual state-wide celebration of “maker culture!” There will be a variety of hands-on activities for all ages, from cooking to technology to crafts, and more.

Teen Dinner & Movie Night

Friday, Feb. 8th 6-9 p.m.  Meeting Room A/B

Have dinner and a movie with your favorite sweetie, or your best friend or all by yourself (but surrounded by friendly faces). We are providing pizza and juice or soda for dinner as well as movie snacks to enjoy.  This event is open to all teens but it is also a “no judgement” zone and a safe space for   all; so whomever you are and however, you identify, you are welcome. Join us!

There will be a selection of movies to choose from and the winner will be selected by those present. Want to suggest something? Send Saleena an email or stop and talk to any of the teen staff or drop a note in the teen suggestion box.
