September is Library Card Sign-up Month

Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort to ensure every child signs-up for their own library card.

Throughout the school year, librarians will assist parents and caregivers with saving hundreds of dollars on educational resources and services for students. From free access to STEAM programs/activities, educational apps, in-person and virtual homework help, technology workshops to the expertise of librarians, a library card is one of the most cost effective back to school supplies available.

How much money can you save?  Visit the ALA Library Value Calculator to total your savings.

Stars, Galaxies & Black Holes

Monday, June 24 at 7 p.m.
Meeting Room A/B

Learn more about the recent detection of a Black Hole. An article on https://www.syfy.com/  recently announced “A Black Hole in a distant galaxy has been eating a star for nearly a decade.”

“In a distant galaxy, a staggering 1.8 billion light years from Earth, a black hole is eating a star.  This is a colossal, titanic event; the gravity from the black hole literally rips the star apart and consumes the entrails, generating soul-vaporizing amounts of energy in the process.”

Mike Buttitta, a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador and Endeavor Fellow, New Jersey and NJTEEA/ITEEA State Affiliate Rep, willl give another of his informative talks tonight. Hear the latest cosmological news about what is being discovered in the universe.

And, save the date: July 20, 2019 at 2 p.m. to celebrate the 50th year anniversary of the Moon Landing.
