How You Can Help
The Steve and Jenny Earth Life Learning Center was established in memory of Dr. Stephen Alvin Reisberg and Jenny Sun Reisberg, who disappeared while hiking along the cliffs of the island of Kauai, in Hawaii, on September 11, 1990. He was a physician and research scientist, she, a graduate student in molecular genetics. They climbed the mountains, dove into the oceans and explored the streams and valleys whenever they could steal some time away from their work. They loved this earth, as they loved each other, tenderly and passionately, and were increasingly concerned with its degradation.
Our major goal is to further community awareness of the increasingly catastrophic impact we are having on our human habitat and the adverse effects this, in turn, is having on our own lives. This impact is taking many unexpected forms, which suggests the probablility of our habitat being confronted with a number of unpleasant surprises in the near future. We hope to arouse increasing discussion and concern around these issues in our community.
How You Can Help
We are based at the South Brunswick Public Library where we have a bulletin board which is often used for displays on the environment by students of the South Brunswick school system. Any group having environmental information or announcements that they would like posted is invited to leave it for us at the library.
We plan, in the future, to have meetings and discussions on environmental issues of specific concern to the community.
We meet monthly. To participate and receive notice of future meetings, please leave your name at the library, or call the library at: 732-329-4000 x286.
