SUMMER READING FOR CHILDREN 2016

CHILDREN’S SUMMER READING
It’s a race to read! Keep your mind and body active this summer with South Brunswick Public Library’s 2016 Summer Reading Program:
“ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, READ!” Starting Jun 20 through
August 14, South Brunswick residents from birth through grade 7 are eligible to participate and win prizes all summer long by reading at home and attending our many fit-and-fun events in
the library! Get ready for the Summer Family Fun Festival at the Beechwood Park, July 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration: Parents and caregivers must register their children preferably in person at the Children’s Desk. All information is kept confidential and for record-keeping purposes only.

How it Works: The goal of the program is to get children reading!  Each week, keep track of the amount of time your child reads (or is read to) on the reading log. Each child will receive one Reading Log to use throughout the eight weeks of summer reading. Each participant will keep track of time read each day by writing the amount of time read in the corresponding box on the calendar.

Once a week, or as you are able, bring your Reading Log to the Children’s Desk to check-in. At check-in we will tally your time read, hand out prizes and stamp your log in the box for that day.

Each week will begin on Monday and run through the following Sunday. Children may check in anytime during the week to turn in their Reading Log. However, participants will only receive one prize per week.

Week 1: June 20 to June 26

Week 2: June 27 to July 3

Week 3: July 4 to July 10

Week 4: July 11 to July 17

Week 5: July 18 to July 24

Week 6: July 25 to July 31

Week 7: August 1 to August 7

Week 8: August 8 to August 14

Prizes!: The Library will be giving out a number of incentives ranging from stickers to activity books and pencils to reward young readers for a job well done. Additionally, for every 3 stamps collected, you can choose a special bonus prize! For every 20 hours of reading time recorded, you can get a free book!

Location: Most events this summer will be held at the South Brunswick Public Library. The Family Fun Festival  will be at Beech Woods Park on July 9 from 11 to 2 p.m..
