Children of all ages and abilities are welcome in the South Brunswick Public Library’s Children’s Room. We offer a comfortable, friendly and inviting environment for reading, homework research, Internet exploring or just hanging out with friends. The Children’s Room is specifically designed to serve the needs of young users and their parents, caregivers and educators. Our collection divided into different sections for easy access. Children’s Collections. Our goal is to encourage children to develop a love of reading and learning through our diverse collection, programs, and services.

Involving children with books and the library is essential to begin when they are young.  The Children’s Department has excellent early literacy programs (Storytimes) to develop the love of reading in the very young.

As children become more independent, we provide them with nurturing programs that encourage creativity and access to outstanding tools for school projects.

In addition to providing inspiring events and a stimulating collection for our young users of all abilities, we strive to develop intriguing and helpful opportunities for tweens so they can have a smooth transition into young adulthood.

In 2011, we provided the children of the South Brunswick community with 637 programs with 21641 participants; added 4294 new books; and answered 50873 questions concerning topics such as  book recommendations, school research projects, programs, policies, computer troubleshooting and catalog use.
