Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)

Q: Will the South Brunswick Public Library get a café?

A: We hope so! The Library Board of Trustees is taking steps towards the inclusion of a café in its building, but no dates are yet set on when it will be complete. There is a sequence of projects that must occur for the café to become a reality and the Library is making progress towards this goal.

Q: Why does the South Brunswick Public Library charge for its movie rentals when some other area libraries do not?

A: Our library charges $1 for a one-week movie rental. Many of the shorter children’s movies are free. A small red mouse sticker on the spine of the movie box indicates that that movie is a free rental. The fee that we do charge enables our library to purchase new releases and keep our collection updated. The library handles a large volume of circulation materials that exceeds most area libraries. The fee helps us defray some of the cost of providing more materials in a variety of formats.

Q: When can I get one of the new library cards?

A: Recently the library purchased a new style of library card (key and wallet size) that features a lovely color image of the renovated building. Unless a patron’s card is seriously damaged and cannot be used, the library is only issuing the new style cards as patrons’ renewal dates come up. This helps the library to pace its purchase spending for the new cards to stay within our budget.

If you have a question or comment about the library please submit it on a comment card. Comment cards and boxes are located at the Information and Circulation Desks. Your comments are heard! We will try to answer as many as space allows in each issue of The Compass.
