Internet/Information Services Librarian



The South Brunswick Library seeks a creative, tech savvy, and enthusiastic librarian to join its Information Services team.  The ideal candidate will possess the skills necessary to manage the library’s website, improve user access and increase the library’s digital presence within the community. As a member of the Information Services Department, this individual will also be actively involved in serving the South Brunswick community through reference and referral service, reader’s advisory, collection development, and community engagement.  A strong commitment to excellent customer service is essential as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with co-workers. 

Primary Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining, updating and enhancing the Library’s webpage
  • Providing support to increase access to the Library’s digital services and collections
  • Communicating with staff to identify needs and expectations for growth and expansion of web services
  • Leading the design and implementation of tasks related to creating, expanding and improving our webpages and web based services
  • Evaluating all new website development activity and providing technical troubleshooting
  • Conducting successful reference interviews to determine customers’ needs
  • Providing excellent service-in person, on the telephone and via electronic communications that meets the needs of individual customers
  • Providing instruction, formally and informally, that enhances the literacy skills of members of the community
  • Conducting reader’s advisory
  • Assisting with collection development
  • Participating in community engagement through programs/events inside and outside the Library building


  • MLS from an ALA-accredited program
  • NJ Professional Librarian Certification
  • Web design knowledge and experience
  • Valid NJ driver’s license
  • Must be physically and mentally capable of performing job tasks
  • Drug free (testing may be required)
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check


2018 starting salary is $55,911
